Construction aggregate, or simply "aggregate", is a broad category of coarse particulate material used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag, recycled concrete and geosynthetic aggregates.Aggregates are a component of composite materials such as concrete and asphalt concrete; the aggregate serves as reinforcement to add strength to the overall composite material. Due to the relatively high hydraulic conductivity value as compared to most soils, aggregates are widely used in drainage applications such as foundation and French drains, septic drain fields, retaining wall drains, and road side edge drains. Aggregates are also used as base material under foundations, roads, and railroads. To put it another way, aggregates are used as a stable foundation or road/rail base with predictable, uniform properties (e.g. to help prevent differential settling under the road or building), or as a low-cost extender that binds with more expensive cement or asphalt to form concrete.

Aggregate Crusher equipment

Jaw crusher play roles as primary crushing to break large raw rocks, stones into small particles. VSI crusher has two working methods: "rock on rock" and "rock on iron". Sand aggregate yield of "rock-on-iron" type is higher by 10-20% than that of "rock-on-rock" type. VSI crusher is widely used to crusher hard rocks like basalt, granite, hard limestone etc.The capacity of aggregate crushing and screening plant is from 30 to 1000TPH. The layout of aggregate crushing and screening plant incudes PE jaw crusher, PFW impact crusher, PY cone crusher, VSI crusher.

The technology of three crushing stages, with jaw, cone, impactor, VSI crushers, makes it possible to produce cubical-shaped aggregate (Aggregate and gravel from compact rocks for civil construction specifications) in fractions of 40-70 mm, 20-40 mm, 5-20 mm (round holes) and manufactured sand in a 0-5 mm fraction. The flexible technology facilitates adaptation of production to market requirements and an output of narrow fractions and aggregate for railway ballast.

Aggregate crushing & screening plant

Natural gravel or sand are usually dredged or dug from a pit, river, lake, seabed or mountain. Crushed aggregate is produced by crushing quarry rocks, boulders, cobbles, or large-size gravels. Recycled concrete is a viable source of aggregate and has been satisfactorily used in soil-cement, granular subbases, and in new concrete. Aggregate processing consists of crushing, screening, and washing the aggregate to obtain proper cleanliness and size. If necessary, a benefaction process such as jigging or heavy media separation can be used to upgrade the quality.

There are several types of crushers to be choosed as stone aggregate crusher machine used in stone aggregate crushing plant.

The Big materials are fed to the jaw crusher evenly and gradually by vibrating feeder through a hopper for the primary crushing. After first crushing, the material will transferred to impact crusher or cone crusher by belt conveyor for secondary crushing; the crushed materials will then transferred to vibrating screen for separating. After being separated, the parts that can meet standard will be taken away as final products, while the other parts will be returned to cone crusher or impact crusher for re-crushing , thus forming a closed circuit. Size of final products can be combined and graded according to customer’s specific requirement. We can also equip dust catcher system to protect environment.
